Shares of China Were Added to MSCI Emerging Markets Index
The MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International) index agency decided to include Chinese shares of category "A" to Emerging Markets Index. Starting from June 2018, shares of this category will be taken into account when compiling the Emerging Markets Index, as well as ACWI (All Country World Index).
It is expected, that the decision will lead to a significant increase in capital inflows to the stock market of China from abroad. The Chinese yuan rose to nearly 9-month maximum against the US dollar after news from MSCI. The yuan was trading at 6.8206.
