ISM Manufacturing Index in US Rose in September

The report, published by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), showed that, activity in the US manufacturing sector improved in September and rose to more than a 13-year high.

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said that its index of national factory activity rose to 60.8 last month, which is the highest since May 2004. Analysts had expected that the figure would drop to 58.0 points. The indicator above 50 in the ISM index indicates an expansion of production, which accounts for about 12% of the US economy.
