Euro Stays Firm Versus US Dollar

The euro rose 0.07% against the US dollar today. The EUR/USD pair is trading at 1.1837 level. The European single currency continued to strengthen, as Carles Puigdemont, President of Catalonia, postponed the declaration of independence of the region and called for negotiations with the government of Spain. However, the crisis did not end in any way, as the Spanish government continues its tough line against any attempt to secession of Catalonia.

The Federal Reserve will issue protocols from the September meeting today. As expected, the Fed did not raise interest rates, but announced that it would start cutting its balance of $4.2 billion in October.
