Can UK Avoid Brexit?
John Kerr, Britain's ambassador to the EU from 1990 to 1995, said in a speech in London that Prime Minister Theresa May must admit that Brexit can be avoided if Britain decides to unilaterally abandon negotiations on leaving the EU.
At the same time, Theresa May called the exact time the country left the EU and warned that it would not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the process. May said that this should happen on March 29, 2019.
In June 2016, 17.4 million Britons, or 51.9%, supported the withdrawal from the EU, while 16.1 million voters, or 48.1% of UK residents, supported their stay in the EU.
