Bitcoin Jumped by 950% Since Beginning of the Year

Bitcoin overcame the level of $10.000, reaching its final milestone and potentially creating prerequisites for a sharp increase in investor interest. Bitcoin began a year worth less than $1.000. The digital currency has grown to $10.125, which implies an approximately 950% increase since the beginning of the year.

While bitcoin struck $10.000 on several exchanges, it has not surpassed this key level around the world. The digital currency has exceeded $10.000 on Bithumb, Coinone and Korbit, but it has not been able to overcome this level on the US stock exchanges. For example, bitcoin rose to $9.249 on Bitfinex, but did not exceed $10.000.

Arthur Hayes, co-founder and chief executive officer of the BitMEX platform with digital exchange, said he would not consider the $10.000 level until bitcoin reaches that level on major US exchanges, including GDAX.
