DAX Index Slightly Higher Amid Progress in German Coalition Talks
The index of shares of Germany DAX has slightly strengthened today. The DAX increased by 0.11% and is trading at 13.217.50 level. Coalition negotiations in Germany continue for several months, but today there were reports of a major breakthrough, as the Conservative bloc of Angela Merkel and the Social Democrats agreed on a coalition project.
Progress in the coalition negotiations mitigates political uncertainty in Germany, but nevertheless, negotiations are held only at a preliminary stage, and further negotiations will continue in the coming weeks.
The minutes of the last meeting of the ECB showed possible change in the monetary policy of the bank in the short term. Officials were pleased with the growth of wages, but continued to worry because of low inflation. Most importantly, the ECB is ready to consider the possibility of a gradual change in rhetoric in early 2018.
