US-China Trade Talks To Resume In Washington
Gao Feng (China’s Commerce ministry spokesman) stated, that the United States and China are currently preparing the next round of trade discussions. The politician also said China won't change its opposition to protectionism in its ongoing bilateral trade negotiations with the US. China also confirmed that Vice Premier Liu He will visit the US to discuss trade at an appropriate time.
Trade talks between representatives of the Chinese and US governments, which took place last week, did not bring any success. Analysts said the opening round of talks in Beijing last week served only to communicate each side’s position. In last week’s talks, the United States demanded that China cut the trade deficit the US faced by at least US$200 billion by the end of 2020. The US said its trade deficit with China was US$375.2 billion last year.
