Angela Merkel Plans Official Visit to China Next Week
It is reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay an official visit to China next week. Angela Merkel will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang during a May 24-25 visit.
It is expected that politicians will discuss global trade protectionism. Earlier, Merkel and Xi stressed the importance of multilateral cooperation in global trade after the United States abandoned multilateral action.
Representatives of the Chinese government have repeatedly stated that China opposes trade wars and prefers to resolve trade disputes through negotiations, but is ready to respond to any US protectionist measures. Against the backdrop of growing trends of de-globalization and protectionism, the Chinese side calls on all parties to stand against protectionism.
