Greece On Strike
Greek government keeps cutting pensions and increasing taxes. And today, workers in Greece went on strike, organized by the largest labor unions the private sector union GSEE and its public sector counterpart ADEDY, to protest against new austerity regulations that are about to come into effect after Greece’s 3rd international bailout expires. Some flights were stopped, ships weren’t sailing, public transport was interrupted.
Striking workers, pensioners and students were expected to march through central Athens around noon. Journalists also joined the protest. GSEE stated: "The government, which implements the same policies that have destroyed the people and the economy, is loading the back of workers and pensioners with new unbearable measures".
