Di Maio Against Temporary Job Contracts
In its first big economic legislation that is supposed to raise job security, Italy's new government will restrict temporary job contracts and punish companies that shift the output abroad. Additionally, any sort of advertising of all forms of gambling will be penalized.
Luigi Di Maio, Labour Minister, leader of the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement and a deputy prime minister stated: "It was a social emergency that needed to be tackled immediately".
However, the majority of employers' associations in Italy has condemned the government’s decision. For example, head of industry lobby Confindustria Vincenzo Boccia said : "I think it's a mistake, you don't increase work by making the rules more rigid".
