US Dollar is Recovering Slightly
The US dollar is recovering slightly. The Swiss franc and the Japanese yen are the weakest major currencies.
Economic data from the US showed that the initial jobless claims rose by 10 thousand to 244 thousand for the week ending July 22, exceeding expectations of 240 thousand. Continuing claims fell by 13 thousand to 1.96 million. Durable goods orders in the US rose by 6.5% in June, well above expectations of 3.5%.
Yesterday, the US Federal Reserve left its monetary policy unchanged, supporting the target for federal funds at the level of 1-1.25%. The Fed also noted that the reduction in the balance sheet will begin relatively soon and the politicians have revised the forecast for the growth of core inflation.
